The film tells the story of three people for a year: a son (Magimel) diagnosed with cancer, a mother (Deneuve) suffering from helplessness and a doctor (Cécile de France) to do her job: One year and four seasons for these three characters to deal with the disease, to tame it, and to understand what it means to die while alive.。一位绰号Bougnat（法语"煤炭商"）的黑人小男孩（Claude Amazan饰演）梦想参加夏令营。但是出发前一天，他才发现母亲没有为他报名。他感到很沮丧，希望想办法参加到夏令营的队伍中来。与此相反，14岁的萝丝（伊莎贝尔·阿佳妮饰演）拒绝加入到其他小孩子中，在集体出发前躲藏在屋顶上，但折腾一番后还是不情愿地上了车。 Bougnat想到一个办法：他改了自己的名字，跳上一列火车，假装是一个迷路的小孩，来到夏令营营地。在夏令营活动中，萝丝喜欢上了英俊潇洒的辅导员，而Bougnat在东躲西藏和各种恶作剧中也刷新着大家对这次旅程的认识......。
