简介
原作は斎藤惇夫の『冒険者たち～ガンバと十五匹の仲間』。言わば名作児童文学作品だが、チーフディレクター出崎統によって、他社の名作路線とは一線を画する味わいの仕上がりになっている。 出崎監督は以後『家なき子』（77年）『宝島』（78年）と児童名作作品を続けざまに手掛けるが、３作品共通して描かれるのは少年の旅と成長であり、演出も硬派、スピーディ、スリリングなものだった。『ガンバ』はその第一作に位置する作品である。 アニメ化にあたっては、メインキャラクターを７匹に絞るとともに、オリジナルエピソードを多量に挿入している（第３話から第17話まではアニメのオリジナル）。これによって、ノロイとの戦いが中心だった原作と比べ、ガンバたちの冒険の旅が存分に描かれ、キャラクターの魅力も最大限に描き切ることができた。 作画監督は椛島義夫、各話演出は出崎氏の他に御厨恭輔、竹内啓...。A party of archaeologists discovers the remnants of a mutant five-millennia-old Sumerian civilization living beneath a glacier atop a mountain in Mesopotamia.。A reclusive scientist builds a robot that looks exactly like him to go on a long-term space mission. Since the scientist seems to lack all emotions, he is unable to program them into his automaton, and an eccentric woman is hired to "educate" the robot on human behavior. In the end, she falls in love... but is the robot or the Dr. Mr. Right?。
