简介
歌舞升平的大上海，华美的表象下有多少罪恶横行。平静的日子里，去酒楼买菜的韩非意外遭遇一个带着巨额现金、身上刺青的男子。该男子与来自某巡捕房的人拔枪互射，最终后者中弹身亡，而刺青男子夺路而逃。随后赶来的探长钟朗和医科大学女教授于胜男调查后发现，死者来自西捕房侦缉队，凶手则是麒麟帮手下的人。不久，西捕房探长李约翰登门，声明要接管此案。李探长傲慢冷酷，同时指示手下三缄其口，令钟朗深感其中另有隐情。不久嫌犯阿连落网，从审讯中得知此案不仅与鸦片交易有关，西捕房内部人员似乎也与之有着千丝万缕的关系。
